Overview

What FinNilai is

FinNilai describes itself as "GST-compliant invoicing & finance for Indian SMBs".[5] It runs in the browser with nothing to install, and covers the money side of a small business from the first quotation to the month-end hand-off: GST invoices, e-invoices and e-way bills, vendor bills and input tax credit, bank reconciliation, inventory, collections and cash flow forecasting.[1]

It is not a return-filing tool. FinNilai prepares GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and GSTR-4 data as CSV exports and produces a Tally XML file, and its FAQ says the business can "hand the GSTR-1 export and Tally XML to your CA for filing; everything before that is self-service".[1] This directory's other profiles cover Munim, which sells a separate GST filing product, and FinBooks, which centres on AI bookkeeping from uploaded documents.

Why it was built

"Too heavy to learn or too American to file"

FinNilai's About page says most invoicing tools in India were "either designed for US businesses and bolted GST on later, or designed in 2003 and never updated". The company says it started FinNilai because every founder it spoke to had the same complaint: "the existing options are either too heavy to learn or too American to file."[2]

Its answer is a product it describes as "built for Indian SMBs, not adapted from one", funded entirely by customer subscriptions, with no ads and no sale of customer data.[2]

  1. 01

GST is built in, not added on

FinNilai says every invoice, bill and report assumes Indian compliance: HSN, IGST/CGST/SGST, place of supply and e-invoice where applicable, with no "India region" setting to switch on.

  2. 02

    Data stays in India

Operational data is held on a dedicated server in Mumbai operated by the company itself, with any cross-border transfers disclosed in its privacy policy.

  3. 03

    Two plans, published prices

No hidden seats and no "contact sales" for basic features, in the company's words.

  4. 04

    Made for non-accountants

Founders, operations staff and admin assistants issue invoices themselves; the CA receives a Tally XML file to file from.

  5. 05

    Security on every plan

Two-factor authentication, workspace isolation, an audit log and encryption at rest are included on the Free plan as well as Business.

The five principles as listed under "What we believe" on FinNilai's About page.[2]

What each vendor publishes about price

The three products are sold in different ways, so entry prices are not like-for-like. Each row below is taken from that vendor's own pricing page on 29 October 2026.

FinNilai[3]

Entry pricing
Free plan (1 user, 20 invoices a month). Business ₹999 a month or ₹9,999 a year, excluding 18% GST.
Trial
14 days of Business, no card.
How it is sold
Two plans; Business has no user or invoice caps.

Zoho Books[8]

Entry pricing
Free plan while financial-year revenue stays within ₹25 lakh. Standard ₹749 a month billed annually (₹899 monthly), per organisation, excluding taxes; paid plans run to Ultimate at ₹7,999.
Trial
14 days.
How it is sold
Six plans, priced per organisation with set user counts (3 users on Standard, 25 on Ultimate).

TallyPrime[9]

Entry pricing
Pricing page shows "Price starts at ₹750 + 18% GST" without naming the plan or period.
Trial
7-day free trial.
How it is sold
Downloadable software, with rental, monthly subscription and Cloud Access options listed.

Where Tally fits in FinNilai's workflow

FinNilai is built to sit beside Tally rather than replace it at the CA's end. Both plans include a Tally XML export "to hand off to your CA", and FinNilai lists a direct TallyPrime sync as on its roadmap.[1][3] TallyPrime itself is downloadable software from Tally Solutions, with rental, monthly subscription and Cloud Access options listed on its site.[9]

Where Zoho Books differs

Zoho Books publishes six plans priced per organisation, each with a set number of users, and a free plan for businesses with financial-year revenue up to ₹25 lakh; it lists GST reports and filing on the free plan and e-invoicing from Standard.[8] FinNilai's pricing FAQ names this tier structure as the reason it sells only two plans: "You shouldn't have to compare 6 SKUs to file your GST return."[3]

Features

From first invoice to month-end close

FinNilai says a new user can get from sign-up to a first reconciled invoice in 15 minutes, in four steps.[1]

  1. 1

Sign up and add the GST profile

Workspace name, GSTIN, state, signatory and bank details. FinNilai says this takes 90 seconds and seeds sample data so the dashboard is not empty.

  2. 2

    Issue the first invoice

Add a client, draft an invoice with line items, generate a branded PDF and send it by email or WhatsApp.

  3. 3

    Get paid and reconcile

The customer pays through the UPI QR code or Razorpay link on the invoice. The invoice is marked paid and the bank transaction is recorded.

  4. 4

    Close the month

Bills recorded, transactions reconciled, GSTR-1 ready to export and a Tally XML file for the CA, with P&L and cash position on the dashboard.

Who it is for

Built for the business owner, with a hand-off to the CA

FinNilai's FAQ answers "Do I need a CA to use FinNilai?" with "No", saying it is designed for people who are not accountants. The CA remains part of the picture through exports and an invited portal.[1]

Audience as described on FinNilai's homepage, pricing, contact and trust pages.[3][5][4]

Solo traders and freelancers
The audience FinNilai names for its Free plan, with 1 user and 20 invoices a month.
Founders, agencies and small businesses
The site's headline audience. FinNilai says the product is designed for "founders + ops folks who aren't accountants".
Growing businesses
FinNilai's pricing page puts the move to Business at "the moment you hire, or your CA wants in, or you cross ₹5 Cr"; e-invoice IRN, which it notes is mandatory above ₹5 Cr turnover, is a Business feature.
Teams of more than 25
The contact page invites teams larger than 25 to write in about sales and partnerships.
The business's CA
Not the buyer, but part of the workflow: the CA can be invited to a portal with access limited to the sections granted, or handed a Tally XML file and GSTR exports for filing.

How is FinNilai different from Tally?

FinNilai is a browser-based cloud app with a free plan, while TallyPrime is downloadable software with cloud access offered as an option. FinNilai does not replace Tally on the CA's side: it exports Tally XML so the CA can import the books, and its website lists a direct TallyPrime sync as on the roadmap. FinNilai's own comparison also marks a CA portal and UPI and Razorpay collection as features Tally does not have.

How is FinNilai different from Zoho Books?

Zoho Books sells six plans priced per organisation, from a free plan for businesses with revenue up to ₹25 lakh to Ultimate at ₹7,999 a month billed annually. FinNilai sells two plans: Free, and Business at ₹999 a month with no user or invoice caps. FinNilai says its two-plan structure is meant to avoid making sign-up "a math problem".

Does FinNilai support e-invoicing and e-way bills?

Yes, on the Business plan. FinNilai lists e-invoice registration with IRN and signed QR, and e-way bill generation through the NIC portal. GSTR-2B reconciliation is also a Business feature.

Can a CA access a client's books in FinNilai?

Yes. On the Business plan a business can invite its CA to a CA portal, with access limited to the sections it grants and revocable at any time. On either plan, the business can export GSTR CSV files and a Tally XML file to hand to its CA.
