Overview
What FinBooks does
"Accounting automation is not a luxury. It should be the default for every business in India."
FinBooks is accounting software built around document processing. A user uploads bank statements, invoices, bills or receipts; the software reads them, categorises the transactions, matches them against each other and posts them to a double-entry ledger. FinBooks puts the result as "from upload to reconciled ledger in under five minutes".[2]
The company says it builds "for Indian businesses and CA firms first, GST rules, Tally exports, and all", and its tagline reads: "Holistic financial clarity for modern businesses and CA firms. Our agents do the work."[1][3]
The product is sold in two forms: a business plan set, where each subscription covers one business, and a CA firm portal, where one subscription covers many client workspaces.[1]
The workflow
From uploaded document to finished report
FinBooks describes its product as one pipeline rather than a list of modules. These are its five steps, in order, as listed on its website.[1]
Step 1 · Upload
Bank statements, invoices, bills and receipts
Documents go in as files. FinBooks says its AI extracts the vendor, amount, GST and due date from invoices, and parses transactions out of bank statements.
Step 2 · Classify
AI auto-categorisation
Extracted transactions are assigned to accounting heads by the AI, so they do not have to be classified one by one.
Step 3 · Match
Reconciliation and invoice matching
Bank transactions are matched automatically against invoices and bills. Invoice auto-matching is listed on the Pro plan.
Step 4 · Record
Double-entry ledger and journal
Entries post to a double-entry ledger and journal, the base for the reports that follow.
Step 5 · Report
P&L, MIS and Tally-compatible exports
Profit and loss with CSV export, monthly, quarterly and annual MIS reports, and exports that work with Tally.
Beyond bookkeeping
GST reports, expenses, payroll and an AI assistant
GST and TDS
GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B-ready reports, with GST and TDS built into the workflows. FinBooks says it is built for Indian businesses and CA firms first: "GST rules, Tally exports, and all."
Employee expenses
An expense module for receipts, with GST input credit tracking.
Payroll
Payroll management with payslips; the product tour describes it as "PF & ESI ready".
AI CFO assistant
An assistant for questions about a business's own financial data, included on the Pro plan.
